Keep You Safe

Challenge
KeepYouSafe.com provides an online safe deposit box service that consumers can use to store critical documents such as credit, banking, medical and insurance records. Early in KeepYouSafe's start-up phase BlinnPR was hired to strategize a launch plan, create content for client's website, devise and execute a plan to raise immediate awareness of the service both as it launched and throughout its staged build-out of new service offerings, and develop and carefully manage a campaign to educate media and assure consumers that it was safe to store such personal data online.

Tactics

  • Website copy addressed, in depth and in understandable language, the security systems in place to protect data.
  • Media coaching to ensure clients could communicate the service's offerings and security systems in an understandable way to reporters during live and for-print interviews.
  • Conducted market research to ascertain who is most likely to use the service and how. Contacted technical, travel, financial, and lifestyle reporters at major media outlets to preview the service, explain its benefits and potential usages.
  • Planned and executed a consistent media outreach campaign tied to news trends and seasonal events associated with KeepYouSafe's service to ensure the company received consistent news coverage.
  • Since the ultimate success of the client's service was based strongly on consumer trust, conducted a program of monitoring blogs and social networking services to gauge consumer reaction and alert client to respond rapidly if service offering was questioned or misunderstood.
  • Drafted and placed by-lined articles on security topics to further establish consumer trust in company executives' security knowledge and professional credentials.

Result
KeepYouSafe's service was recommended by the Wall Street Journal, National Public radio, PC Magazine, Yahoo! Tech, and Fodors. The company and its CEO were also positively profiled by CRN, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Small Business Computing, About.com (Adventure Travel) and Dave Graveline's Into Tomorrow national radio news show, along with numerous other print, online, and broadcast news outlets. The launch and subsequent new service offerings were consistently covered by major media. During a time when malicious hacking and identity theft were also receiving broad coverage, KeepYouSafe was established as a highly trustworthy repository of confidential data.
